The main selling point of Eufy's the X8 is its laser navigation. The X8 makes use of the laser mapping system, which is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to construct a comprehensive picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is great for multi-floor homes.

That said, it does an admirable job of removing pet hair, and has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

Known for quietly effective home appliances, Miele's RX2 robot vacuum is a great choice because of its cleaning power, beautiful design and excellent navigation. It has a few oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being considered the top smart robot vacuum (notabug.org's website).

Like iRobot's latest models, the RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system that uses a LIDAR sensor to map out the space and two 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once mapped the app allows you to designate virtual no-go zones and favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. You can also initiate cleaning manually or change the cleaning mode, watch a live feed from the cameras onboard and more from the main screen.

The RX2 has superior sensors that can detect furniture and other obstructions in a flash. The suction and sweeping abilities are excellent, removing surface litter from carpets with medium pile and smart robot vacuum also removing embedded dust on floors. But it's not the most agile robot on the market. It's not the most efficient climber, and it has problems with metal threshold transition strips.

This budget-friendly robot is just like your typical robot but it's upgraded in terms of performance and features. Its smart mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses those to navigate and avoid obstacles. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it from falling down stairs, makes it one of the fastest vacs we've tried.

In our tests, it effortlessly moved over large shag rugs and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were impressive as well; its composite score in carpet and bare floors topped the competition. It was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our lab test samples.

The controls are less basic than the competitors. There is a cleaning button at the top and you can start it with the app or via voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, designate no-go zones and check the history of cleaning. Ion is clad in a smart dark gray plastic that is both attractive and appealing in your home. The rear dust bin is easy to empty and removing the filter is just as simple.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is an excellent option for those looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and doesn't have any frills at a low cost. It's not equipped with some advanced features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping, which are available in higher-end models. However, if you don't require these features, you could save money.

This robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. It is more sophisticated in its automation than most of its competitors, including the capability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. It's a dependable robot vacuum, even though its application is a bit slow and the 980 spins out when it comes across cables.
